I think I have a problem....

Sam' Goth Socks a6IMAG0119This is the second pair of Turkish socks I've managed this month....  mwahaha!  Ahem.  Sorry about that, I appear to have developed an addiction.  This red pair (DH's) is the second I have knitted this month.  The purple skulls (#1Son's) being the first.  Top down with a dutch heel and Kitchener stitching across the toe.  The red pair are more trad, being knitted from the toe up with a trad afterthought heel.  In both cases the toes and heels are knitted with both yarns, nice and snug.
My Turn1Both have been knitted with hand spun and have been just so much fun.  So much fun in fact that after I finished the red pair on Monday.  It would have been within the month but got caught up with a bout of pleurisy and a hospital visit (ambulance and everyfink, don't want to do that again for a while, apart from everything else, they lie.  Morphine isn't that hot).

My Turn4Anyhoo, once the second pair were finished, I realised something very important.  I need colour knitting.  It is soothing, it keeps me sane when I can't get to my workshop.  And whilst I don't have a large colour project on the go at the moment (watch this space, I have plans), I can knit Turkish Socks....  and they are a quick fix.  So last night..... this happened. I wandered down to my workshop and liberated some hand spun 3ply DK in BFL.  I had spun this up quite recently and have been holding out but....  (the fibre was dyed by Freyalyn in her Hellebore colourway).  The white is some fantastic 50% BFL/50% Mohair that I picked up in the Woolclip last year.  I've been trying to track down more ever since... not with much success I might add, which is a shame as it is just fantastic.  As these are for me, I much admit, I'm not upset at the thought of using it, and they seem to be coming along really nicely, the pattern (yes, there is a pattern this time) is by Anna Zilboorg, and appears in the Knitting Traditions Winter 2010.  So far it's really pleasing.

More later, but off to do some dying now.  500gms of merino (-18 micron) that I want to be in peacock blues and greens for the Peacock Feathers shawl (Dorothy Seimens) that I have promised myself.  I shall be spinning twice the amount I shall need, for emergencies, you never know....
